Chocolate chip peanut butter cookies

This recipe is from the Wanda Brunstetter book called A Merry Heart and was called Miriam's Chunky Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies.  We found them to be delicious!

3/4 Cup margarine (I used unsalted butter)
1 Cup white sugar
1 Cup brown sugar
1/2 Cup peanut butter
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 1/2 Cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (8 oz.) chocolate candy bar, chopped (I used one 12. oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips)

Prehat oven to 350 degrees.

Beat margarine (or butter), sugars, and peanut butter until light and fluffy.  Blend in eggs and vanilla.

Add dry ingredients and mix well.  Stir in the chocolate pieces (or chocolate chips).

Drop rounded tablespoon of dough onto ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake 10-12 minutes or until light brown.  Let stand a few minutes before removing from cookie sheet (I transferred to a wire cooling rack).

Makes about four dozen cookies.
